Summary: Micky followed along, not because he wanted to. Sure, he liked being around Jae, but he went because, really, he hadn’t anything better or more interesting to do. And Jae definitely made things interesting.
Disclaimer: Characters not mine, never were, but it's just fiction. The base story, however, is mine. Shoo.

“Didn’t expect it to snow.”
“Yeah,” Yoohwan replied and blew into the air, his breath little wisps of white.
“It’s much prettier at night.”
“But much colder.”
Micky shivered as if to illustrate the fact. “At least we got a white Christmas.”
“And now every idiot on the road will get to use their insurance!” Yoohwan said with an enthusiastic thumbs up. Micky just laughed and put an arm around his brother’s shoulders, dragging him inside.
“Yeah, just a second,” he heard their mother say. “Yoochun! Junsu is on the phone.”
“Okay,” Micky replied as he slipped his shoes off and padded into the kitchen. “Wait, this is my phone.”
His mother shrugged. “It was playing a song so I answered it.”
“Thanks,” he told her as he put the phone to his ear. “What’s up?”
“Will your parents let you out of your tower tonight Rapunzel?” Junsu asked.
“What kind of prank did you think up this time?” he asked as he sat on the couch and Yoohwan turned the TV on.
“No pranks. But Changmin and I have gifts for you, and we want to go to a movie. Did you have dinner early too?”
“Yep,” he nodded to himself and then glanced at the presents he had for his friends. It would be nice to give those before going back to school.
“Have you talked to Jae?”
Micky blushed at the question. “Yeah, over text.”
“And?”
He frowned. “And what?”
“I… hold on,” he paused and Micky could hear someone talking in the background. “Nevermind.”
“If you’re asking if one of us asked the other out, the answer is no.” Micky felt his neck get hot when his brother glanced over curiously.
“Wuss,” Junsu told him and Micky agreed on the inside. He hadn’t told them about the kiss outside Mio’s dorm. He wanted to talk to Jae about that first. Face to face. Without any meddling.
“What was that? I heard you’re paying for the tickets?” he asked innocently as he glanced at the clock.
“Changmin already bought the tickets online. And we’re almost to your house,” Junsu said, surprising Micky.
“Oh,” was all he could get out. “And just which movie is it you bought tickets for?”
“Movie?” Yoohwan perked up.
“My brother sounds quite interested.”
Junsu snorted. “I got him a ticket, don’t worry. And we’re going to an action movie because I’m not going to tolerate any of that romantic crap on Christmas.”
“I’m not inclined to believe you, but since it’s Christmas, I will throw caution to the wind.”
“I’ll pretend you didn’t say that and inquire as to whether you’re ready to go.”
Micky stood and peeked through the blinds on the window to see Changmin pulling up in his parents’ 4x4. They would probably be safer in that. “I’ll tell my parents and we’ll be out in a sec.” He hung up and went for his shoes. “Mom! We’re going to a movie!”
“What? Tonight? They’re open?” she asked as she stood in the kitchen doorway.
“Yeah, the movie theater is always open on Christmas,” he told her. “We shouldn’t be late.”
She reluctantly gave them permission, but was probably happy to see them doing something other than staring at the TV, which both brothers had been doing since winter break started. Well, that and their computers. At least she never had to worry about delinquents (in most cases).
The two piled into the vehicle, greeting Junho as they did so. “Where are your sisters?” Micky asked Changmin. “And how did you escape.”
“I appealed to my father’s side and demanded time without estrogen. Do you count as—Aaah!” He laughed as Micky took his beanie off and whacked him with it.
“I am gay, not a fucking girl!” he snapped.
“Don’t abuse the driver!” Junsu proclaimed from the passenger seat. “And here is your gift, you horrible person.”
Micky laughed with a thank you as handed the ones he had for them to Junsu. He tore the one from Junsu open. “Wow.” He stared at it, impressed. “This will give me something to do over the holiday.”
“Sweet,” Yoohwan said as Micky handed him the last season of Scrubs.
He waited as Junsu opened his present he’d brought and wondered if Changmin had brought anything. Junsu chortled over the soccer ball phone charm Micky had gotten him, much more in love with it than the coffee tumbler he’d paired with it. He then watched as Junsu opened Changmin’s gift for him, dangling the box of chocolates next to his face. Changmin did love candy, but not enough to crash the car in order to wrestle them out of Junsu’s hands.
Once they arrived, Changmin made Junsu feed him some of the chocolates as he searched for a parking spot. When the spot was found, everyone jumped out of the car and Micky waited while Changmin very carefully stowed the chocolates in the glove box, taking one for the road, so to speak, before locking the car and following along.
“Thanks for the ticket,” he said as they wandered after their friends.
“Well, Junsu bought them, so don’t worry about it,” Changmin told him. “Don’t tell him I told you.”
“Oh, I wouldn’t ever mention his being generous or he’d never do it again.” He grinned. “So, where’s my gift?”
Changmin just smiled and pointed ahead of them. Micky frowned at him before turning to see the twins and his brother greeting Yunho—and Jaejoong. For a moment, he thought he was seeing things, but then he realized it really was Jae when the young man laughed at something Junsu said.
“I think he’d probably like to see you more than Junsu,” Changmin said with a nudge, which got Micky moving.
When he joined the group, the two greeted him with smiles, asking how his holiday was going. They both hugged him, but Jae’s hug lingered a bit, and Micky didn’t mind one bit. He didn’t want to let go because he thought his chest might burst.
“Okay,” Changmin said as everyone pulled back into a circle. “Here are the tickets.” He then distributed the papers to everyone as they learned they were seeing the new Marvel movie.
“Is it good?” Junho asked.
“It’s been getting good reviews,” Yunho answered as they all entered the building.
“Who cares, it’s a free movie,” Jae muttered, but Micky had a feeling he was the only one who heard it and just grinned at him.
Somehow, Changmin orchestrated the seating arrangement and managed to seat Junsu on one end, and Micky near the other. He made a mental note to thank Changmin for his gift as he took a seat between his brother and Jae. Immediately, he and Jae slouched down in their seats and propped their feet atop the seats in front of them. They then smirked at one another and Micky knew it would be a good night.
From time to time, during the movie, Micky and Jae would mutter something back and forth, snickering about it. Micky never realized he could comment on so much during a movie. Somewhere around halfway through, he wondered if his brother felt left out, but Yoohwan didn’t seem to be paying attention to anything but the movie. With every piece of terrible banter that came out of the hero’s mouth, Micky was left to laugh against Jae, chortling quietly at the less funny bits.
The movie wasn’t half bad, and Micky enjoyed every moment. They were all laughing and making gestures to one another about their favorite parts as they walked out and found that it was snowing. Despite the crowd milling around outside, the group took the time to enjoy the moment and Micky let himself sneak a glimpse at Jae’s smile.
Not yet, something told him, so he held back for the moment. He didn’t know why, but it just felt right. It was only a few weeks. He could wait. No one would be around to listen in.
It wasn’t long after that (since nothing else was open) the group said their goodbyes to Jae and Yunho, and split off. Micky was walking backward as he caught Jae’s eyes, seeing a look of contentment mixed with what looked like deviousness. It made Micky grin as they nodded at one another and turned to leave. He knew exactly what he was getting into.
“No?” Changmin asked as they walked back to the car.
Micky smiled to himself. “Not yet.”
When he and his brother were dropped at their house, Micky found Yoohwan’s arm around his shoulder. “So was that him?”
His cheeks felt hot despite the weather. “Yeah.”
“He seems like a nice guy,” his brother said approvingly as they walked in the door. It felt good—really good—to know his brother was so accepting.
Micky’s hand caught something as he was pulling his phone out of his coat pocket, so he stopped, set his phone down and reached back into the pocket to pull out a paper and something small and jingling. Letting it hang from his hand, he found that it was a phone charm, a deep red musical note with a bell attached. Micky read the paper, unable to quell his feelings inside.
