Summary: Jaejoong always loved art, that much was obvious. But his usual forte is pencil drawing. When he finds out he has to take photography for digital arts to graduate for his major, he takes on the challenge with an open mind. On a hike, he catches someone in his camera lens he never anticipated. Then he keeps seeing the guy everywhere. When that certain someone comes to a gallery he participates in, Jaejoong never expects him to agree to the hasty proposition he jokingly offers.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4: in which Jaejoong falls—a bit painfully
On the days he didn’t have to work, Jaejoong usually spent time on homework, or watching Micky if he was practicing for a play. Micky, despite being the lazy bum who would rather sit on his bum writing stories or lyrics all day, actually took a liking to acting during his second semester at college. He’d been chasing some girl who was in the chorus of one of the musicals at the time, and somehow, Micky weaseled his way into the production and fell in love—with acting, not the girl. Ever since, he’d tried out for every play and finally, he’d gotten the lead role for last spring quarter’s production. Though acting didn’t interest him, Jaejoong had toyed with the notion of trying out for some of the musicals. He wasn’t bad at singing, after getting compliments when he and friends went to karaoke. And while Micky was very encouraging on this subject, Jaejoong knew he’d never have time for it with everything else he did. Besides, he did actor sketches and photographs for every play since Micky had tried out, so he figured he was doing his part on that end.
Jaejoong glanced at his camera and decided he was bored of sitting and sketching. He grabbed the camera before he got up and popped the lens cap off as he made his way down to the stage. No one really paid him any mind. He sort of became a fixture to the department when Micky was around anyway. Some people said they were joined at the hip—in more ways than one. Jae smirked at the thought as he scrolled through the settings. Everyone had sworn Micky and Jaejoong were dating until Micky tried to ask that girl in the chorus out on a date. While everyone had gotten a good laugh out of it, the two didn’t bother explaining their past. That would just open a whole new can of worms and they didn’t want people trying to get them together again.
Jaejoong stood a few rows back and took a picture of the entire stage as Micky, his leading lady Hyori and the director blocked out the scene together. He zoomed in on Micky and snapped a picture of him looking extremely confused. Jaejoong grinned at the screen on his camera as he pulled it away from his face. He’d have to show that one to Micky later. The two actors then began to read their lines as they went through the blocking and Jae moved closer so he could get shots of them together.
Many people, Jaejoong included, wondered why Micky never hooked up with Hyori, who was often his costar in whatever plays he happened to be in. Despite his preferences, Jaejoong thought Hyori was one of the most beautiful women he’d ever seen. And yet, Micky had never once acted like he was attracted to her. Maybe it was because he respected her too much as a fellow actor to ask her out. Jaejoong had never asked. But he was never really one to pry unless it made Micky blush and fidget in frustration. No, Kumi was more the direction he liked to go with his teasing.
“Ever since you got that camera, you love being all artistic with your photographs,” Hyori said when they stopped the scene.
Jaejoong grinned and moved up to the stage. “Who wouldn’t want to capture the essence of your beauty on film?”
“Flirt,” she accused with an amused smile. “And don’t lie, there isn’t any film in there.”
“True, but someone needs to make sure everyone knows about the beauty that Micky never tried to use his pick up lines on.”
Hyori laughed. “Who says he didn’t?” She winked and turned away.
Jaejoong raised a curious eyebrow at that food for thought before he turned with a shrug and made his way back to the seat where he’d left all of his things. He scrolled through the pictures as he climbed the stairs and paused to make sure he was at the right row and walked over as he smiled at some of the pictures. He liked the pictures of Micky and Hyori together. They managed to emote their roles at one another so well, so when they looked at one another, it looked like they were really in love. Jaejoong wondered just how Micky did it. He blinked in surprise when the pictures he’d just taken ended and the picture of the young man in the forest popped onto the screen.
Jaejoong glanced back and forth and blushed when he realized he was making sure no one could see what he was looking at. A stupid notion, he thought, since all of the drama students were down toward the front of the auditorium. He zoomed in on the picture and wondered just why he’d gotten himself stuck on this guy. Well, he could do worse. At least this guy had some concept of knowing how to groom himself. It was pretty obvious he spent a decent amount of time on his hair to get it to spike up properly. And his clothing was chosen for what he was doing, not to look good, so the guy had common sense. And damn if he wasn’t worth looking at. While waiting around for practice to start, Jaejoong had sketched out most of the mystery man’s face and was just about to get to his lips—lips he wouldn’t mind trying out himself.
With a sigh, Jaejoong turned his camera off. He didn’t even know who this was! Maybe it would help if he actually showed the picture to people to see if they knew the guy. But something about showing others the picture made him nervous, like he was saying ‘hey, I’m stalking this guy, do you know where he might be?’
Jaejoong shoved his camera into its case and zipped it closed. He didn’t want to show anyone because he didn’t want them to know he liked the guy, and he knew it. He didn’t want them to know about his secret, which was entirely stupid. It was dumb. He knew he should show the picture to people and ask who the guy was. It couldn’t be that difficult, right?
“Hey.”
Jaejoong jumped and fumbled with the camera case, nearly dropping it before he glanced over and sighed. “Jesus, Keita. Are you trying to reduce my lifespan?”
Keita chuckled. “Not my fault you’re always staring off into space, zoning out. No wonder Micky says your nickname was BooJae.”
Jaejoong glared at Keita and set the camera on the seat next to his. “And to what do I owe the honor of your presence?”
“You.”
“Uh, what?”
“You told me to meet you here.” Keita rolled his eyes when Jaejoong just stared at him. “We have that assignment in Philosophy… ah, now you remember,” he said as it dawned on his friend.
“Sorry, I totally forgot we’d partnered up for it.” Jaejoong grinned sheepishly. “Wanna get started on it then?”
“We have a few hours before the library closes, so why not?”
Jaejoong shrugged as they gathered their things and made their way across campus to the library and set up shop on one of the tables on the second floor. After agreeing on a subject for their project, the two split up to look for materials. Keita went off in one direction as Jaejoong wandered in another. He did find a few books after a while, but they didn’t have the subject matter he wanted, so he went searching for more. Maybe he should look in the magazine area…
As he was moving through the bookcases he slowed at the sound of voices and looked over to stare in surprise—it was him. The spiky hair, the round face and lips Jaejoong had been itching to see in person were right there and damnit, he couldn’t even move. He couldn’t even get a word out when the guy glanced over and caught his eyes.
That’s when Jaejoong (who thought he couldn’t move) walked straight into a librarian’s cart and grabbed the corner of the cart as he tripped to the side onto his knees, his forehead hitting the bookshelves next to the aisle. His mouth dropped open in a silent groan from the pain of hitting the cart, but was very glad it had hit his stomach and not other sensitive parts. Unfortunately, the collision sent books falling to the floor and once Jaejoong recovered from his pain, he apologized to the girl behind the cart and glanced over to see the young man seemed torn between helping and going with his friend who was tugging at his arm. Jaejoong ignored the blush creeping over his face and moved down to help the girl retrieve the books. Once they were safely on the cart again, Jaejoong stepped to the side and let her pass before he turned to find the end of the aisle empty. Where had he gone?
Jaejoong abandoned his search for materials for his assignment and silently scoured the area to try to find the young man with the spiky hair. Oh sure, he saw spiky hair, but none really like the way he recalled it. After bumping into a couple as he walked backwards through one of the bookshelves, Jaejoong decided the day had obviously been way too long and he must have been hallucinating. He made his way back to the table where he’d set his stuff and slumped down in a chair before he leaned on the table, head in his arms.
Way to make a first impression, moron. Not only had he just completely frozen like a deer in headlights, he’d also managed to make himself look like a complete ass with no sense of direction or his surroundings whatsoever.
“Hey, you sick or something?” Keita poked his head and Jaejoong managed a groan in response.
“It’s just… been a day,” he replied, not bothering to look up.
“Tell me about it?” Keita whispered as he took a seat.
Jaejoong turned his head to look at Keita who looked genuinely concerned. Okay, so maybe Keita would know who the guy was. He glanced around to make sure no one else was listening in. “I took a picture of this guy.”
Keita frowned. “O…kay.”
“In the forest, by accident.”
A raised eyebrow. “Er, okay.”
“When my camera wasn’t set to do that.”
Still confusion. “And?”
Jaejoong could only blush as he tried to think of what to say and when he noticed a grin creep onto Keita’s lips, he buried his face in his arms again. Nothing could be more embarrassing than this. Okay, maybe admitting this to a crowd could be more embarrassing, but right now, it sure didn’t feel that way.
“You totally want to nail him,” Keita hissed and someone shushed him from two tables away.
“Shuttup!” Jaejoong whispered fervently. “I saw him here. Just now.”
“So he’s probably a student. Means you can find him easier and your bed will be warm at night.” Keita’s wink sent Jaejoong’s eyes in a roll.
“He’s probably straight anyway, knowing my luck,” Jaejoong grumbled.
“So can I see it? The picture I mean. Is he cute?” Keita’s eagerness made Jaejoong want to turn him down, but could he pass up the chance that Keita knew the guy? With a sigh he leaned over to dig through his bag as Keita made quiet sounds of triumph. Jaejoong frowned as he moved things in his bag around. His camera was missing.
He jumped in surprise when his phone began to vibrate in his pocket and fished it out to see Micky’s name flashing on the screen. He flipped it open. “Yeah?”
“I’ve got your camera, and damn these are some nice shots,” Micky told him as he could hear Hyori in the background.
“Good,” Jaejoong breathed a sigh of relief. “I left my camera in the auditorium,” he told Keita as the young man deflated to a pout.
“I’m leaving now. Want me to take it home with me?”
“Sure,” Jaejoong answered as he pushed away Keita, who was tugging on his sleeve. “Stopit!” he hissed.
“But I wanna see your mystery crush,” he said with an even bigger pout.
“And Jaejoong?” Micky’s voice caught his attention.
“Yeah?”
“Stop staring at the picture.”
Shit, he saw it was still on there?
“ You’re going to end up with some fantasy crush on someone that doesn’t exist.”
Jaejoong smiled and gave him a defeated, “You’re right.”
The two said their goodbyes and Keita crossed his arms, mad that he was being ignored, but Jaejoong knew he’d forgive him in ten minutes. Besides, Micky had a point.
He might end up with some crazy notions about this guy that weren’t true and fill his head with ideals of what this guy was supposed to be like, just from one picture of him. At least Micky was wrong on one aspect.
He existed.

[dramatic pointing] Your JaeChun is very visual, their strange relationship very well set even if its origins remain a little mysterious. I loved the whole HoMinSu part of the Starbucks scene--great dialog between them--and the fact that Tuesdays are Micky's favorite days (nights?) of the week. ^_~
Really rooting for Jaejoong (who seriously needs to stop proving the title before he breaks something). Can just sense his confusion, knowing the dude in the photo is real and yet still doubting his own grasp on reality. There's something sort of Pygmalion-y about it, too. Well, not so much the play as the myth. Just a little.
