“Oh. My. God.”
Jae turned when he heard Kendra enunciate every word and blinked at the shock on his friends’ faces. He could feel a grin appearing on his face at their expressions—exactly what he was hoping for.
“Holy crap!” Chester said when he joined the group and walked up to Jae, inspecting his newly bleached and spiked hair.
“You guys like it?” Jae asked to watch his friends nod absently.
“It’s nice to see your forehead for once,” Ara pointed out as everyone moved closer to tease him about the sudden change.
“Road block!” someone yelled from behind Jae and everyone moved out to the elevator lobby to compliment Jae on his hair.
“You look cute,” Jae told Kendra as he looked her costume up and down. She wore some sort of high school uniform complete with the pleated skirt, knee socks and Mary Janes. “Who are you?” he asked as he eyed the yellow ribbon in her brown hair.
“A schoolgirl,” was Kendra’s only answer and Jae rolled his eyes. When she was talking to Yunho, Jae managed to sidle over to Chester—who matched Kendra—and got the names Haruhi and Kyon out of him, but Jae didn’t really know what that meant at all. Apparently, he needed to get up to date on whatever anime had been popular around here. Ara fussed with the light blue jacket for her costume and Jae helped her put it on as they waited for an elevator to return.
Some of the others were also dressed up and started to mock everyone who didn’t have a costume. Jae noticed Kendra giving him a contemplative look and suddenly he was very afraid—she was planning something. He didn’t get to ask because the next elevator arrived and they all piled into it. Soon they were all talking loudly as they made their way to the convention center amidst other groups of fans and people in costumes. Jae was surprised and impressed by the amount of people that surrounded him with similar interests to him.
Showing their badges as they walked in, the group entered the convention center and Jae’s eyes wandered over the space, admiring the large area that the convention was held in. As they made their way around, Jae listened to conversations, chatted back and buried his nose in the map and schedule as he wondered what he should see and do. By the time they had made their rounds, Chester announced that the exhibition hall was open and that they should go buy things. Everyone agreed and Jae followed them into the huge space that all of the vendors had set up tables in to sell a range of anime and video game items. As Jae stopped at various tables with Yunho, he made a mental note to hit up the ATM for some much needed cash to buy a few things.
“Found you.”
Jae glanced over to see Kendra grinning at him and dread weighed down his bones. He had a bad feeling about this. She grabbed both Jae and Yunho by the arms and dragged them over to another booth. When they arrived, Jae noticed the dealers were selling costumes and Kendra pointed up at a set for them. They looked like high school uniforms of some sort. Black pants, white shirts and light blue blazers with an emblem on them stared down at the two young men. They looked at each other with trepidation. This really didn’t bode well at all.
“You’re going to buy those and wear them,” she ordered. Jae had a feeling they wouldn’t get much say in this.
“They’re so expensive!” Jae complained, hoping this would deter her, but she just shook her head.
“We’re pooling money together,” she announced with a grin as the two looked over to see their friends grinning evilly and Jae only felt the bitterness of defeat. He heard Yunho mutter something under his breath, but didn’t catch it.
Money was paid, costumes were sold and soon the two were pushed behind a curtain to change into the costumes. Jae didn’t even know if the damn thing would fit! He grumbled under his breath as he shoved his legs into the pants that fit perfectly and sighed. Who was he dressed as anyway?
“Well, at least if we have to suffer, we’ll suffer together,” Yunho muttered. He didn’t look happy as a wry smile sat on his lips.
“I suppose you have a point,” Jae replied as he pulled the blazer on. “What does this even say?” he asked as he pointed at the emblem on the blazer.
Yunho just shrugged and pulled on his suit jacket. “I guess we’ll find out.”
When they emerged, their friends cheered like crazy and Jae assumed they looked good. Everyone crowded around and demanded a photo shoot as Jae began to worry. Was this a good thing? Jae grumbled unhappily as Kendra wet his hair with water and restyled it to look like whatever character he was supposed to be.
“Okay, you,” Kendra pointed at Jae as they began to walk again, their friends still chattering happily. “You’re Tamaki, and Yunho is…” she tapped her chin as she thought, “Mori!”
The two looked at one another in confusion and he saw Yunho’s eyes light up. “What are we…” Jae trailed off as his character’s name finally hit him and he looked at Ara to realize he matched her. “Oh hell no! I am not cosplaying a host club!” he snapped as he started to turn around.
“Whoa, whoa!” Yunho grabbed his arm. “What’s so bad about that? It was a funny show.”
“But girls will be all—”
“KYAA! OH MY GOD, OURAN HOST CLUB! Can we take your picture?!” a girl cut Jae off and he gestured at her as if to say ‘like that’ while Ara giggled.
“Sure!” Yunho told the girl and her friends as the squealed happily.
“You’re going to die later,” Jae told him darkly.
“Well worth it,” he pulled Jae close with an arm around him to grin at the camera.
“Your characters are backwards,” Kendra told them. “Yunho is supposed to be stoic and Jae is supposed to be flirtatious.”
“Bite me,” Jae growled through his teeth as Ara completely lost it, laughing as she clung to Yunho’s arm.
Kendra handed him a rose that seemed to appear out of nowhere. “Just pretend they’re all Jenna while you and Yunho are completely unattainable,” she suggested. “You like being unattainable, right?” she asked as a sly grin slid into place on his lips. She had a point, this might actually be fun. They made a pose as the girls and a few of their friends took pictures. After being told they were blocking the walkway, Jae and his friends left the buying space to find a place less crowded. No less than eight times they were stopped in the hallways for pictures. Apparently, they were the best cosplayers of this particular anime in the building, or so they were told. Jae had to commend himself for having bleached his hair the night before.
Getting places was a bit bothersome with people stopping them from time to time, but Jae didn’t mind it too much. It seemed to make all the people happy to get their picture, and he kind of liked seeing their smiles when they thanked him and Yunho. Somehow, just that part made it all worth it.
After stopping for lunch, they all decided to meet back in two hours and split off into groups to explore the convention on their own. Jae, Ara and Yunho decided to attend a drawing panel as others went off to do whatever they wanted to do. The panel showcased the idea of drawing with a pen tablet on the computer and impressed Jae with the idea and technique. He pulled a notebook out of his bag and took notes as Yunho just sat back to listen. Ara asked Jae if she could have a copy of his notes later and he grinned as he nodded. Great minds, he thought. He decided taking a class on this when he went to college might be interesting and slipped the notebook back in his bag as the panel ended.
The three then wandered over to one of the large halls with a stage that had a concert playing. They stood in the back and sipped on water from the coolers stationed there as they watched the band. Jae took surreptitious glances at Yunho when he started to move to the music. Using the glass to cover his smirk, Jae knew Yunho wanted to get out there and start dancing. Ara gave him a knowing smirk and they both watched the dancer. Actually, Jae kind of wanted to do it as well. It was too bad it wasn’t the kind of music he was used to practicing to, but he supposed he could improvise.
“We’ll have to hit up the dance later tonight,” Yunho said as he tossed his cup in the garbage.
Jae nodded absently as they left the hall and made their way back to the meeting place. Once they caught sight of their friends, after being stopped for pictures two or three times, Chester grabbed Jae’s hand and dragged him in a completely different direction.
“I signed you up for karaoke!” he sang happily as Jae let himself be dragged. He had a feeling he wasn’t going to have any say in this either. He might as well give up and let his friends rule his life for the day. At least the hotel room would be all to him and Yunho later. Jae was pleasantly surprised to find that Chester had only signed him up in the queue to sing, not for the karaoke contest, which was later in the evening. Jae pulled Yunho and Ara close to help him go through his iPod to pick out a song. Twenty minutes later he was onstage, belting out a Korean pop song into a fairly decent microphone with far too loud speakers. He earned quite a few cheers when he held onto notes and when he improvised. At the end, he grinned at the loudest cheers he’d heard all day and handed off the microphone as he exited the stage. His friends crowded around him and patted him on the arms and back as they voiced their love for his vocals. It paid off to take all those choral classes.
As they were leaving the room, Jae slowed when he overheard a group of kids quietly talking about the news. They said something about a killing that happened a few nights before in Belltown. He frowned as he wondered where that was and Yunho stopped next to him.
“That’s here in Seattle.” His voice was quiet, but pitched lower than usual. Jae couldn’t tell if it was anger or anxiousness. Maybe it was both.
“Is that a district?” Jae asked as they started off after their friends slowly.
Yunho nodded. “Sort of. But I heard about this on the news while you were in the shower. There’s really no doubt in my mind as to who—or should I say what—did it.”
Jae mouthed the word ‘vampire’ and Yunho nodded again. “You think it’s Jin?”
“Maybe,” Yunho murmured as they stopped near the wall of windows. “Or his followers. I saw another one on the news a few weeks ago. He must be getting sloppy.”
Jae nodded as he looked out at the streets of downtown Seattle. It was a bright, sunny day, but somehow he now felt like it should be overcast.
“You two look like you’re moping,” Ara said as she appeared at their sides and grabbed Jae’s arm. “Come on, I had someone request a picture.” She tugged as Jae followed along.
“What kind of picture?” he asked, amused by her determination to get them away from their mopey-ness.
“Tamaki kissing Haruhi,” she said simply as Jae rolled his eyes and Yunho laughed.
Despite a weak protest, Jae thought it might be funny. The girls Ara had met up with stared in amazement when Jae approached them with Ara on his back. Camera flashes assaulted them and Jae had to laugh at how excited they were.
When Ara slid off of his back, Jae pulled her close and ignored the loud squeals as he dipped her to plant a kiss on her lips. He could tell she was shocked as well, because she froze before she finally wrapped her arms around the back of his neck. He could feel her smiling into the kiss and he couldn’t stop himself from breaking the kiss with laughter. Afterward, they did a few more poses, as well as one where Jae offered Ara his rose from down on one knee. The girls had loved that one. Once that was over, the girls asked for some pictures of Ara and Yunho together. Then the inevitable proposal…
“Have Mori and Tamaki kiss!” one called as the other cheered at the suggestion.
“Ah, that’s…” Jae couldn’t even articulate a response, too embarrassed as he felt his face heat.
“Let’s do something simple instead,” Yunho suggested and caught up Jae from behind, his arms wrapping around the embarrassed, young man as cameras flashed and the girls cooed at how cute they looked. He almost forgot they were there when he turned his head to glance at Yunho and received a nuzzle. Yunho managed to pull him out of the moment and made the camera flashes seem miles away. He would regret it if he didn’t kiss Yunho, but he didn’t want pictures of the two of them splashed all over the internet. Screw it, he thought when he noticed their other friends walk up. He wasn’t going to get the chance to make so many fangirls go crazy again.
Jae reached up with his right hand to wrap it behind Yunho’s neck to pull him closer for a kiss. It may have been an awkward position, but his lips were on Yunho’s and nothing else really mattered at that point. He heard gasps and barely contained squeals along with shutter clicks as the fingers of their left hands threaded together over Jae’s stomach. Once they were finished, there was a quiet round of thank you from the girls who moved on their way. As their friends walked up to tease them, Jae heard one of the lingering girls comment to a friend that seemed a lot more personal than character driven. Her friend shrugged as they walked away and Jae just smiled. Unfortunately, that didn’t prevent his blush from heating his face hotter than it’d ever been.
“Thought you didn’t like PDAs,” Yunho commented as their friends all chatted around them.
“It was for a good cause,” Jae replied as he patted his cheeks, hoping they would cool.
“To kill fangirls all over the world?” Yunho attempted.
“Is there any other?” Jae grinned and his eyebrows shot up as Yunho suddenly delivered another kiss. Their friends didn’t bother teasing them this time, only told them to hurry up because they were hungry.
Dinner was eaten at some restaurant across from the convention center and they all took some time to share pictures and talk about the costumes and people they’d seen. Jae’s friends enjoyed teasing Yunho and Jae for getting together, but Jae knew something was missing yet. They would be official when Yunho gave him something in particular. Until then, he kept Yunho close to see when that would happen. Soon after devouring some cake at the restaurant, they were on their way back as they noticed kids more dressed for partying carrying various assortments of glow sticks and glowing bracelets along with other glowing accessories.
“Dance?” Jae glanced back at Kendra.
“Dance.” She nodded with a grin.
The group made their way up to the main floor and followed all of the raver kids to the main concert hall where the dance was being held. Now this was more like it! The DJ had set up on the stage he and Yunho had seen a concert being held on earlier, and the area around it was inundated with people moving to the loud beats. He could have done without the high pitched, booming music he knew came from dance games, but it was the music for the venue.
Kendra stopped Jae and held out her camera and he took it to see pictures she’d taken of them just before dinner. He smiled at the picture of him kissing Yunho and had to commend her for the angle of the shot. He wondered how she’d managed to sneak in at an angle below them. Jae yelped in surprise when someone grabbed his wrist and tugged him away.
“Dance time!” Yunho called over the beat and dragged him toward the dance floor.
“What?” he replied, surprised.
“Now!” Yunho grinned and Jae knew he had no choice in the matter.
Dancing with Yunho was much different than watching Yunho dance. Jae had to admit, it was a little awkward at first, but when Yunho demanded that he get more into it, everything went much smoother. Everything also got much hotter. He never knew Yunho could move his hips like that and roll his body against Jae in a way that made him want to drag his dance partner to the bathroom and make out, right then and there. He resisted and kept his arms around Yunho’s shoulders as they moved, paying little attention to those around him. Jae almost wished he had some alcohol to give him a buzz, but his head was buzzing plenty when Yunho kissed him halfway through the third song. Well, he thought it was the third song anyway.
The night passed far too quickly as the music fed them energy. Once in a while they stopped for water, but Yunho would drag him right back into the crowd and Jae couldn’t even protest because he liked it. There were a couple of songs he danced with Kendra, and a few with Ara, but he couldn’t stay away from Yunho for long. He didn’t even bother fighting the teasing because they were right—he really couldn’t keep his hands off of Yunho. If only he’d take the damn blazer and shirt off, then they’d be in business!
Finally, Jae checked his phone to see that he’d been dancing for almost two and a half hours straight, he begged Yunho for a rest, and Yunho finally gave in to his own exhaustion. They sat on some chairs, regaining their breath as their friends slowly joined them. Yunho rested his arm on the back of Jae’s chair Jae, so Jae rested his head on Yunho’s shoulder. Then Ara sat in his lap. Kendra immediately got up and took a picture of them grinning. He knew they must have looked exhausted but happy. Eventually, need for sleep came up and everyone agreed to head back to the hotel.
The walk back was nice as the night air gave them a chance to cool down and breathe fresh air—not unwashed miscreant air from the dance hall. Some of those convention goers really needed to learn what showers were and how to use them.
Once they were on their hotel floor, Jae slid the keycard into the door as their friends catcalled from down the hallway, assuming what was coming next. It only reminded him of the way his friends in California acted toward them. Used to it, Jae flipped them off before pulling Yunho into the room by his tie. It was over. With a sigh, Jae leaned against the door as Yunho moved into the room and threw his blazer on the closest bed.
“Remind me to dress as a hobo if I get dragged to this next year,” Jae grumbled a he pushed off the door and pulled his own jacket off.
“They’d still think it would be from some anime and hot,” Yunho pointed out as he caught Jae and pulled him close. “I think it’d be pretty hot, but I’m probably biased.”
“You just like the idea of me dirty so you can drag me into the shower,” Jae teased and pushed on Yunho who held tight.
“The thought had crossed my mind, but I’m too tired to give it any more thought.” Yunho kissed him then and Jae felt fatigue weighing him down. Maybe sleep was a better idea. He let Yunho drag him further into the room and didn’t protest when the young man suggested passing out for the night.
After changing into sleepwear, they fought over mirror and counter space in the bathroom to brush their teeth before crawling into one of the beds together. Jae felt a light kiss on his forehead once they were comfortable and knew he was going to miss sleeping with Yunho once he was back home.
“So.”
“Hm?” Jae cracked an eye open.
“I finally found a place in town and I’m taking vacation next week to move. Wanna help me move during your spring break?” Yunho dropped the suggestion as Jae felt a smile tugging on his lips.
“For the whole week?” he asked and heard Yunho hum in agreement. “As in, sleep over? Sleep with you?”
“You’re a smart one, you,” Yunho teased and laughed when Jae poked his stomach.
Jae grinned. “Why, thank you.”
“Is witty comebacks all you’re good at?” Yunho teased and Jae let him steal a fleeting kiss.
“Not the only thing,” Jae specified as he pulled Yunho closer. “Not by a long shot.” Their lips lingered together in a deeper kiss this time. He smiled and felt lighter than he had all night as Yunho nuzzled him with a grin.
“Only you.”

“Only you.”

Date: 2009-07-02 06:08 am (UTC)pretty fun chapter, though so many things were going on i was forced to slow down my reading speed so that i didn't miss a single action.
btw, just a side note, i was watching Twilight again a few days ago and, omg, i started seeing jae and chun instead of the original actor/ess O.O and i kept remembering Feel and how it went and before 15 minutes i was wishing that it was THEM acting instead of the original actor/ess xD!!
