ah that's a bit of superstition if you believe in it. its said that onyx protects friends from harm. like you give a friend an onyx bracelet or ring and they get into a car wreck they come away okay from, but the jewelry is missing afterward. its believed the onyx disappeared in exchange for the protection, or so the superstition goes anyway :)
